Banksy anyone? Now a world-famous artist, Banksy was born in Bristol and spearheaded the wave of street art that took Bristol by storm in the 1980s. Walk the streets of Bristol today, and it’s hard not to spot graffiti art decorating the city’s walls – plus, if you’re a fan of Banksy’s work, you can still find some of his earliest work hidden in plain sight across the city.
The city is steeped in culture and history. If that’s your thing then don’t miss historical and heritage sites like Bristol Cathedral, the Lord Mayor's Chapel, and the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, all of which are easily accessible from our Bristol uni accommodation.
Bristol is also well known for its fascinating maritime history. Once a busy dock for trading goods, Bristol’s Harbourside is now alive with restaurants, bars, shops and hotels. In the mood for more shopping? Cabot Circus is your best bet for high street favourites, or if vintage or charity shopping is more your thing, take a visit to Gloucester Road and Park Street.
